Terms & Conditions

By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions you agree;

  • to pay for the hire period of hired items and are responsible for paying for items lost or damaged whilst in your possession. You also agree to us charging you automatically for overdue hire fees.
  • that it is your responsibility to ensure that we have your correct contact details on file and are receiving our emails regarding your hire.
  • to look after the hired items in your possession and bring them back by the return date or arrange to extend the hire prior to the due date.
  • to contact us if you have any problems with the hired carrier and related equipment.

Personal details

We will store your personal details in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We will only contact you in relation to your hire. Your personal details include your full name, address, email address, phone number. We may also keep a record of your spouse or partner who may pay for hires. You are welcome to sign up to receive our newsletter separately.

Loan Cost and Duration

All carriers and slings are loaned subject to availability, condition and suitability.

The standard hire charge is £10 for 2 weeks hire or £20 for 4 weeks hire.

Stretchy Wraps are loaned out at £5 for 2 weeks hire or £10 for 4 weeks hire.

You are responsible for the full cost of replacing any lost or damaged (beyond repair) carriers and accessories. 

If you return the carrier early, you will not receive any refund on hire fees.  You are welcome  to exchange for an alternative carrier during the hire period free of charge. 

Payment Methods

Hire costs are payable by card through MyTurn or Bacs payment.

Returning Carriers

Please return your carrier on the agreed date, with any accessories. Returns can be done at a Sling Meet session. Please try to return at the start of the session to ensure that the sling is available for re-hire. 

Returns can also be made to M16 9WF by pre-arrangement. Please email or text Ruth to arrange.

Late Returns

If you return your carrier late we will charge £1 per day late fees for every day past the agreed returns due date until the date that you either return the carrier or pay to extend your hire including any fees incurred to that date.  If we have not heard from you after 7 days past your due date, you will be charged another hire period plus the late fees incurred.

It is often possible to renew your loan for additional weeks (unless the carrier has been reserved), with payment made through MyTurn. You may only extend your hire for up to a maximum of three months.  After this time, a new hire must begin. This is to remain compliant with the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

Under adverse or unforeseen circumstances we may reduce or waive fines for late returns as long as the late period is less than 7 days and has been fully agreed by us before the end of the loan period.

Persistent lateness with returns, rehires or late fees may result in you no longer being able to hire from the library.

If we do not hear from you within 30 days from the end of your loan, we will consider the carrier stolen and begin legal proceedings.

If you are unable to return your carrier by the agreed date due to Library staff illness or holidays, we will extend your loan period for free and agree a new return due date with you.


Please only use the carrier in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. If there is a choice, we may have recommended a particular carrying method or position which is more suitable for your baby.

All hires will be provided with video instructions for use. This may be one of our video instructions or another carrying consultant.

Always ensure that your child is seated correctly in the carrier and check any knots or buckles are fastened properly.

Please observe your child while in the carrier and ensure that their airways remain clear.

Care of Carriers/Slings

Please do not under any circumstances smoke while wearing or holding the carrier. Smoking is known to increase the risk of SIDS for babies, and these risks have been linked to babies being in close contact with clothing or objects contaminated with smoke particles.  For this reason, please inform us if you or a member of your household smokes. This ensures that we can carefully launder the carrier after it has been returned.

Food stains and posset marks are expected. Please spot clean these as needed.  Please keep slings away from anything that may stain more permanently, e.g. oil, paint, pens. Or anything that might damage (scissors, velcro, keys). Please be careful of buckles and try to ensure they are not stepped on or trapped in car doors.

Please keep away from animals and pet hair.

If you feel the carrier needs more than a spot clean, please wash at 30c with non-biological washing powder on a gentle cycle (e.g. wool or silk). Do not use fabric conditioner, or optical brighteners. 

For carriers with buckles, please place them in a pillowcase or similar before placing in the washing machine.  Do not tumble dry. Line dry only.


We will contact you mainly by email or text message. Please ensure that the details we hold on file are correct. Our emails may go into your junk mail, please add our address to your address book or approved senders list. 

We will only use your contact details in connection with your hire.  Unless you have separately signed up for our mailing list.


All Consultations require payment in advance to secure your place.  Consultations booked and confirmed are subject to our 24-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will surrender 50% of your payment. If you or your child are ill or unable to attend, I will endeavour to reschedule for a mutually convenient time.

Consultations are 1:1 or 1:2 as arranged.
